Save Hills Heritage is all about collaborating with locals, community groups and the government to make sure that Mundaring Region's Built and Natural Heritage is saved, conserved and preserved for current and future generations.
The Shire of Mundaring has a rich history and with that comes a lot of heritage places. With the threat of development, we need to make sure that these lasting heritage sites are saved!

SAVE ST MARK'S
The group was formed in 2019, after the deconsecrated St Mark's Anglican Church, Mount Helena sat abandoned for nearly a decade. St Mark's is a 115-year-old+ timber church, built with materials sourced from the local Bunnings Bros Mill at Lion Mill (now Mount Helena).
St Mark's was consecrated on 26 th April 1907, by the then Bishop of Perth, the Right Revered Charles Riley. In 1915 the front porch was added and by 1930, St Mark's was moved from Chidlow Street to its current site on Ealy Street.

Jessica Shaw MLA speaking in WA Parliament about Preserving Hills History (including St Mark's)
Jessica spoke in Parliament on 28th November 2019 about the importance of preserving our Hills history - particularly the only WW2 Camps in the Perth area.
Heritage Minister, David Templeman stated "We have some great heritage warriors up here - Owen Briffa of Lost Mundaring & Surroundings Local History Museum, Bob Sheppard of the Friends of the Chidlow WW2 Camps, Chidlow District RSL and Fran & Norm from The Chidlow Tavern. Thanks to everyone in our community who is fighting with us to preserve our heritage!"
